The Bachelor Recaps: My Initial Thoughts

My Initial Thoughts

When I read ABC’s announcement of the next Bachelor, I was excited to hear the details of the lucky man’s life. Several points stood out to me as I read the release:

“Not born with a silver spoon in his mouth...”
The release was a little over 400 words with the following characteristics in practically every sentence: sincere, self-made man, successful, self-made entrepreneur, determined, committed, works diligently, booming business career, good work ethic, provider, strong values, appreciative of what he has accomplished on his own.
I think he wants us to know that he didn’t come from money.

“May be the series’ hottest guy yet.”
Naturally, I will have to judge this statement based on the few pictures I’ve seen on the Interweb. His eyes are gorgeous. Love the smile. I seem to continue to notice his neck. The body does have potential. Of course, one can’t really tell how hot a guy is until he takes his shirt off. It’s scientific fact. Everyone knows this.

“He’s the Bachelor’s own McSteamy.”

Seriously ABC? You’re going to go there? Seriously?

“Currently residing in Austin, Texas…”
Well there you have it. Best. Bachelor. Ever.

“…Livingston, Texas, where he went to high school.”
I’m detecting a “good ole’ boy” vibe. Probably baled hay and roped a few cows in his day. Probably why he is so tan. Love that.

“Co-owns four lucrative bars...”
Prediction 1: How many girls are going to ask him to make a drink?
Prediction 2: How many girls are going to try and impress by making him a drink?
Prediction 3: SHOOTERS! Last one standing wins one-on-one time!
Prediction 4: He falls for the girl who prefers an ice cold bottle of Corona and nurses it all night long while rolling her eyes at the girls with fruit in their drinks

“He got into bartending with his twin brother, Chad.”
Please. PLEASE ABC. I beg of you to pull the old switcheroo and have Chad go out as Brad so that he can help his brother make a more educated decision on which girl to choose. That is classic TV my friends. At the very least, have him come to the bar on SHOOTERS night and freak the drunken girls out with mind games. ABC intern…my pal, my compadre…you know you thought of this. Make it happen!

I have to admit. I’m excited. They caught me…hook, line and sinker. Anyone else ready for the ride?

Tessa and Andy broke off the engagement...

Can't we have a gorgeous bachelor with dark hair, dark eyes and olive colored skin? You know, the ol' tall, dark & handsome? They are all blondes! I know Firestone wasn't blonde, but he was still clammy white. This is a country full of melting pot babes & we always pick the blonde haired, blue eyed blonde.....BORING....

I meant blonde haired, blue eyed boys...duh....

Can anyone truly say they are surprised Tessa and Andy called it off? He was so incredibly wooden and plastic (at the same time! Like Woody from Toy Story crossed with a Ken Doll) and she seemed relatively "with it." Must say, though, it won't change my insane desire to watch this newest Bachelor. Thank GOD for DVR.

Totally ready for the new season! I'm guessing filming is over or I would be roaming the streets of Austin looking for the lucky girls visiting his fam-just to report back to Lincee and the crew here! However, a visit to the Chuggin' is indeed in the near future....

Here's the quote from Tessa and Andy:
"We are very much in love and committed to our relationship," the couple say in a statement. "With the possibility of reassignment to a new location, we decided it was not the ideal time for Tessa to uproot herself and move out [to Hawaii] right now. Our relationship continues to deepen, and we're very hopeful about our future together." a.k.a. blah, blah, blah, we want to date other people blah, blah, blah. ;-)

I think Andy will be dating a Vanessa Minnillo like object within two months.

Prince Lorenzo? I did say a gorgeous guy didn't I? ;o) I always thought he was the biggest dork ever! Erica was the only highlight of that season for me. I loved to hate her! We need a Taye Diggs or Mario Lopez looking bach....totally...love the dark & handsome type...mmmmm

Sad news...Tessa and Andy have called off their engagement. Shocker. They blamed it on the fact that he is up for a transfer in a year so Tessa shouldn't uproot herself. That makes sense...but only if they were never planning on getting married in the first place.

If you read the article it says they broke off the engagement but are still together. I believe they are playing it smart. Good old fashion dating.

CRAP, CRAP, CRAP.....I will be in San Diego opening night.....thank gawd for TIVO!

Does anyone else think he looks a little like McConahy? He lives in Austin too. If this guy has a body like Matthew it is going to be a GREAT hot-tub season!! :)

Glad to have Lincee back!!

He's hot for sure. I am however dreading a lot of awful Texas cliches by the ABC editors. Roaming herds of longhorns, cactus, cowboy hats and big hair...

Living in Austin myself I am particulary looking forward to this Bachelor. Where were gorgeous guys like him when I was single??? I may have to make a trip to 6th street just to check him out in person. I bet his bar will be packed every night with women just wanting to catch a glimpse.
Looking forward to the "BEST SEASON EVER"!

Just have to note...past 2 times I've been in Colorado I've run into 1. Prince Lorenzo (and actually made the comment to his face - "you picked the wrong girl!" Yes, I'd had a couple. His friend came back with - he got both of them! Too bad we don't have Sadie around to confirm...). For the record, he is a douchebag. And just this past weekend - 2. Dr. Travis. Hot hot hot. But acted way too cool and not into the girls who were drooling over him :) And he wasn't as tall as I thought he was! Tv is so deceiving. I didn't get a word in, unfort, though I didn't have much to say to him anyway, other than the fact that my roommate thinks she will marry him, but that might have freaked him out.

Seriously, can we leave out the 10-gallon hats and cowboy boots in this Bachelor Marry-e-thon?!
Anyone else wanna bet that some "serious" singing will cause a schmuck-us amongst our lovely
bach-e-lor-e-ettes?

At least they have some damn hot food in TX and can clear out the wimpy chix with a quik lick of a habenero! Remember girls - don't mess with TX.

Ciao Laura! :-)

I can't decide if I'm more excited to watch the Bachelor or more excited to read your blogs?!?!?! :) I just got a teaching job, so I know Tuesday's will be the longest days waiting to come home and read the recap.

I wonder where the location of the series will be? Wouldn't it be cool if they were living on a ranch in Texas?

I was at a party in the Warehouse District last weekend and heard PLENTY of talk about our new Bachelor! Hint: ChadBrad has a thing for short brunettes.

Anonymous said...

Wow! When I went to SWTSU with Brad and Chad, their last name was Pickleseimer. Wonder when it changed to Womack?

Brandi Wheeless said...

Hey girl - I'm so excited about the Bach and I love your new blog. But seriously - we will have to do something about our IT department at work because Tuesdays are going to be a very long day waiting to get home to read this! :)

I also went to High School with Brad, and his last name was Picklesiemer. My mom also taught him in high school. They said The Bachelor made him change his name to his mother's maiden name, "Womack", which doesn't quite sound nearly as bad as Picklesimer. However, if I recall correctly, Brad was a really nice guy in high school.

theres a bunch more pictures of brad at his bar http://www.realitytvspoiler.com/index.php/2007/09/07/the-new-bachelor-is-a-chugginmonkey/

I, too, cannot wait for this season (and especially Lincee's recaps). Brad seems like a real cutie...but Brad and Chad??? Really???!!! What were his parents thinking???

I won't even comment on the Pickleseimer last name. Wow.

I'm always so hopeful this part of the Bachelor experience. I always think, "This time will be different; he won't be a douche." And I repeat that mantra. And it never, never works.

A quote from that article...he's referring to one of the bachelorettes-apparently she's from Austin...

“I was surprised I didn’t know her here; Austin is a small community, as you know,” he says. “It was good to have someone to talk to about local places to go.”

Ok, Ummmm, does he actually live here!? Austin is NOT a "small community". Austin WAS a small community..around 1950/60/70 something....just sayin.
